Digital Harvard provides access to a growing collection of online academic resources for the University community and our worldwide audience alike. Resources include distance learning courses, online museum exhibits, and innovative projects in instructional technology.


User groups and organizations

The ABCD Committee is an informal association of systems managers, programmers, researchers, students, administrators, and faculty that participate in a series of monthly special interest group meetings.

The student organizations Harvard Computer Society and Digitas support interest in information technologies within the Harvard student community through web-hosting services, publications, and seminars.

The Berkman Center for Internet & Society provides the Harvard community with hosting and support for weblogs, which can be created by anyone with a Harvard-related e-mail address. The Center also hosts a weekly weblog writers group.


The Office of the University CIO

The Office of the University CIO includes University Information Systems, the Office of Administrative Systems, iCommons, and Central Administration Information Technology. The Office of the CIO sponsors and facilitates initiatives in Administrative, Infrastructure, and Academic Computing.

 

Information Security at Harvard is a critical and ongoing initiative. Resources are available for the Harvard community concerning University security and privacy requirements, policies and practices, governmental regulations, and current events related to information security.



University-wide computer support services

University Information Systems (UIS) is Harvard's central information technology organization. UIS provides telephone, computer, software, and network services to the University community.

Center for Workplace Development (CWD) (Password-protected access for Harvard employees only)
Courses include word processing, database design and management, web page development, graphics programs, desktop publishing, and more.


School-based computer support services

All schools at the University maintain computing support units to serve the specific needs of their students, faculty, and staff. These groups offer a variety of services that can include network and e-mail support, help with hardware and software problems, training, online documentation, and instructional computing support.
