Where can I find statistics about Harvard online?
Several offices on campus publish reports that include statistics and numerical information about the
university.
The Office of News and Public Affairs maintains
Harvard University at a Glance: Quick Facts and Figures. It contains some frequently requested information,
like the number of students, faculty, and alumni, tuition and fees, the motto, and some financial figures.
It is often updated before the information is available in an official report.
Printed every two years, The Harvard Guide, published by the Office of News and
Public Affairs, includes a variety of
information about the university, including the history of the institution, financial information, notable
graduates, Nobel and Pulitzer Prize winning faculty, important research, and numerical information about
students.
The Vice President for Finance prepares an annual publication called the Harvard University Fact Book that
contains extensive information on all aspects of the University's student population, academic resources,
administration, and finances. You can find the latest issue online. A new edition is usually available during
the summer with information about the previous academic and
fiscal year.
If you're looking for information about Harvard's faculty and staff, the Affirmative Action
Plan, produced by the Office of the Assistant to the President, may be a good source for that
information. A new edition is usually available in late winter or early spring.
The Annual Financial Report to the Board of Overseers of
Harvard College serves as the university's annual report. It contains a wealth of information about
Harvard's finances, including a detailed report by Harvard Management Company about the endowment.
It is published in the fall.
The Faculty of Arts and Sciences web site
includes some statistics about their students, faculty, staff, and physical facilities.
The Office of the Registrar for the Faculty of Arts and
Sciences has course enrollment
information on their Web site. The current semester's enrollment information is usually linked from the
homepage. Past enrollment information is also available.
Statistics on the freshman
class are available through the Undergraduate Admissions Web site.
Harvard Medical School has a factsheet with numerical data, including the number
of students, faculty, staff, and Nobel laureates.
Charts showing the distribution of
international scholars and students are available through the Harvard International Office.
