Brief mindfulness moment
Begin each class/meeting with a pause (1 min)
- Feel your feet firmly on the floor and hands in lap.
- Take a breath in, and a breath out.
- Repeat two more times.
Check in
Offer an intention for the class or offer a meaningful quote (2-5 min)
- Let’s bring our full attention to each other and the material offered today.
- Find a quote to set a tone:
- “Mindfulness is being aware of the present moment with curiosity and care.”
- “If compassion does not include yourself, it is incomplete.” ― Jack Kornfield
- “Have no fear of perfection – you’ll never reach it.” ― Salvador Dali
- Take the emotional temperature of the room:
- What feeling do you bring to class today?
- On a scale of 1-10 of stress (or wellbeing) from least to most, how do you score?
Reminder
Conclude a class with a round robin or an invitation for self-care (1 min)
- Demonstrate gratitude or kindness
- Name what’s working well
- Name one practice of self-care or for the next week
