This four-year program (three years of tuition and a one-year facilities fee) with master-level course requirements, culminates in a certificate of completion, as well as a Master of Medical Sciences (MMSc) degree from Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM). The Oral Medicine residency sponsored by HSDM is an intensive training program for dentists committed to pursuing a full-time academic and/or institutional career. Clinical training is based at Harvard affiliated teaching hospitals. The program is fully accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA). Enrollees will gain extensive experience with the diagnosis and management of medically-complex cases including oral mucosal diseases, salivary gland disorders, bone pathology, and orofacial pain conditions.
The Doctor of Medical Sciences (DMSc) degree in Oral Medicine includes a five-year program (four years of tuition and a one-year facilities fee) with doctoral-level course requirements and a research thesis, culminating in a certificate of completion, as well as a Doctor of Medical Sciences (DMSc) degree from Harvard School of Dental Medicine (HSDM). Similar to the Master if Medical Sciences (MMSc) program, this program offers an intensive training program for dentists who are committed to pursuing a full-time academic and/or institutional career in oral medicine. All clinical training is based at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where you will gain extensive knowledge in the diagnosis and management of medically-complex cases.
Harvard School of Dental Medicine offers a certificate-only program in Oral Medicine. This three-year program, which includes stipend support, culminates in a certificate of completion. Trainees in this particular track are encouraged to consider pursuing further training in clinical research to best prepare them for a successful academic and/or institutional career.
