Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
Harvard Graduate School of Arts and Sciences
The Ph.D. program in chemical physics is designed for students who wish to prepare themselves for the study of chemical problems by the methods and theories of modern physics. Research topics in experimental physical chemistry and chemical physics through the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology range from elucidation of the properties and behavior of nanostructures to the characterization of the interior workings of individual cells to the preparation of the first quantum spin liquid, and newly developed methods help researchers follow reactions on surfaces, in the stratosphere, in live cells, and all the way down to the single photon level.
